Melanie Quigg, MSW, RSw
Melanie (Mel) Quigg received her Masters of Social Work from Dalhousie University in 2004 after receiving her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology, from the University of New Brunswick and her Bachelor of Social Work from St. Thomas University. She has over 15 years of experience working in mental health in a variety of settings in Ontario and Nova Scotia.
In recent years she has been providing assessment and treatment services in the HRM, with young children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. Melanie is a Registered Social Worker and Private Practice member of the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers.
Melanie’s therapy modalities are evidence based and the type of therapy she uses is dependent on the type of presenting issues her clients have as well as what is the best fit for them. Melanie has a gentle, non-judgemental style and believes that therapy works best when people feel comfortable and understood. She predominantly uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), Solution-Focused, Trauma informed and Narrative Therapies.
Melanie is a mother and enjoys spending time with friends and family, travelling and trying new things. Melanie is a life long learner and frequently attends workshops and conferences in order to build on her knowledge base.
